The Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has proposed the sum of N820m for its projects and programmes in the 2019 fiscal year.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Mrs. Abiola Kufile-Okonji disclosed this while defending her agency’s budget proposal before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, at the Assembly complex in Abeokuta.
According to her, N500m representing 60.97 percent of the total sum would be spent on capital expenditure, which involves purchase of fixed assets, construction of new buildings and renovation of some existing ones among others, adding that the balance of N320m would be for recurrent expenses.
While saying that the welfare of staff remained paramount in the implementation of the Ministry programmes and policies, the Commissioner stated that N150m from the recurrent has been voted for personnel cost and N170m for overhead.
In their various responses, the Assemblymen while commending the Ministry for her past achievements, especially on revenue generation, urged her to intensify effort, as the revenue target has been increased from N6m in 2018 to N10m, for 2019, saying more is also required of the ministry in the area of publicizing the disability law, to protect the people living with disabilities in the State.
