Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said his administration would continue to strengthen the National Youth Service Scheme in achieving its desired objectives of promoting national unity, integration and development.
Abiodun stated this at the official opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2020 Batch A, Stream 1 orientation course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), held at the State NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Sagamu.
The Governor, who was represented by Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, implored the prospective Corps members to make the best use of the opportunity, to develop their creative instincts and leave bold imprints on the sands of time.
Delivering his address, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports and Chairman NYSC Governing Board in the State, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, represented by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun, advised the youth to avail themselves of the benefits of the orientation course, assuring that the State government would continue to prioritise their welfare.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Dr. Belinda Faniyi explained that the orientation exercise was meant to integrate the Corps members into the system and prepare them for the challenges of the service year, restating the resolve of the scheme to expose them to the culture and tradition of their host state.
A total of 2067 Corps members would take part in the 21-day orientation course of the scheme.
