In its bid to further promote safer motoring and free flow of traffic in Ogun State, the Bureau of Transportation (BOT), says it has replaced faulty traffic lights at various junctions in Abeokuta, the State capital.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Barrister Gbenga Opesanwo who disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists in Abeokuta said, it was imperative to install the traffic lights as the influx of investors to the State and the volume of vehicles plying the roads was increasing on daily basis.
While stating that the State government would not relent in its efforts towards providing effective road network to allow economic development thrive, Opesanwo assured that his agency would continue to ensure that traffic lights and other facilities needed for orderliness on the roads are provided and maintained.
He appealed to motorists to comply with speed limit signals, observe traffic lights and other road signs, cautioning that reckless drivers and vandals in the State would face the full wrath of the law when apprehended.
‘’We are appealing to the drivers in the State to limit their speed and observe traffic light as it was not installed for beautification, but to avoid accident.’’ He said.
