WE ARE COMMITTED TO A CORRUPT FREE STATE- OGSG

Ogun State government has disclosed that it is fully committed to a corrupt free society, amidst various programmes and mechanisms, to ensure that the State operates successfully with zero tolerance to corruption.

The Chief Economic Adviser to the Ogun State Governor, Mr. DapoOkubadejo, stated this while addressing the Transparency and Accountability Network (TAN) and other Civil Society groups at the Governor’s office, in commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day.

Okubadejo noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government was poised to resist corruption  through the introduction of the  Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), a process for budgeting and planning, State Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainability Programme for Result (SFTAS), adding that the Public Procurement Law would also be introduced.

 

‘’All the activities of government are put in public domain, we are also implementing the Public Procurement Law, through this Procurement Law, we are going to ensure that we get real value for projects, the process for contract awards, procuring resources for the benefit of the state is done transparently and in line with global best practices”, he said.

 

The Chief Economic Adviser disclosed that the present administration has also introduced the government delivery unit that would ensure that all projects embarked on by the State government were delivered on time.

 

Okuboyejo disclosed further that, government was in the process of implementing the Fiscal Responsibility Commission for prudentmanagement ofstate’s financial resources.

 

Earlier in his remark, the convener, TAN, Ogun State, Mrs.AdebankeAkinrimisi,said the commemoration of the year 2019 International Anti-Corruption Day was designed to raise awareness on the risks associated with different forms of corruption towards promoting a better understanding of the values and rewards of resisting corruption.

 

The State chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, noted that if leakages in the system are properly blocked, government would be able to perform its responsibilities to the people, adding that fight against corruption was a collective responsibility.

 

Contributing, the Ogun State Head of Service, TPL AjibolaChokor, assured that theState workforce would support the government of Prince DapoAbiodun to ensure a corrupt free society.
