Lack of safe drinking water, inadequate hygiene facilities at home and in places of work are capable of preventing people from living a healthy life.
The Chairman, Association of Water Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP), Ogun State chapter, Engr. Wole Adekoya, made this submission at the Conference Room of Ogun State Water Corporation (OGSWC), Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, while marking the 2019 World Water Day, with the theme, “Leaving No One Behind”.
He said clean water was very important in every household, for food preparation and other chores, noting that AWDROP would always be opened to collaborate with Water Corporation to move the water sector forward.
Speaking earlier, the Acting General Manager, OGSWC, Engr. Maku Oluwaseye, called on major stakeholders in the water sector to come together to identify challenges facing water supply in the State, with a view to finding solutions to them.
While highlighting some of the problems facing the Corporation to include; poor power supply and high cost of imported water treatment chemicals, Maku said the Corporation was working round the clock, to check illegal water connections across the State.
According to him, “Associations who are willing to collaborate with us are always welcome, in as much as we are working for the sustainability of water supply to the good people of Ogun State, as illegal connections are very rampant in the State”.
