Determined to develop and reposition transport system in the State, Ogun State government has expressed its readiness to synergize with relevant investors through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) approach.
Commissioner for Transportation, Engineer Gbenga Dairo disclosed this in Abeokuta, during stakeholders’ meetings with representatives of Labour City Transport and Prizeberg Limited, who were on contractual arrangements with the State on transport services, saying government was enthused at revamping the transport system for better services to its citizenry.
Engineer Dairo said the considered measure became necessary to address infrastructural and procedural decadence in the sector, calling on private investors to collaborate with government in curbing the menace and further develop transportation system in the State.
He decried the arbitrary transport fare passengers were subjected to, especially low income earners and small medium entrepreneurs, in moving their goods from one destination to another.
The Commissioner called on all existing transport service providers on contractual arrangement with government, to adhere strictly to terms of engagement, as partners in creating conducive atmosphere that would ease means of doing business in the State.
In his remark, Chief Financial Officer, Labour City Transport, Mr. Paul Malik, expressed satisfaction with the renewed commitment of the State government to partner investors, stressing that such leap would enhance infrastructural development hindering the expansion of business.
He commended the Dapo Abiodun led administration for its rare commitment to general overhauling of the State transport system with the creation of Ministry of Transportation and the appointment of a professional as the Commissioner, promising that stakeholders would support government in taking the sector to the desired height.
