The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has commenced an operation tagged “Safety on Ogun Traffic Corridor”, to ensure safety of lives and property during and after the Easter celebration.
A release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Corp, Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, stated that 350 personnel, 23 patrol vehicles and 20 tow trucks through the Higher Tow Operations, would be used to cover all nooks and crannies of the State during and after the festive period. The release further explained that the Corps would collaborate with other sister agencies to ensure timely clearance of obstructions, rescue and emergency services, especially at diversion points where construction is ongoing.
The exercise will involve all road users through the TRACE Traffic Whistle Blowers Initiative, TRACE Emergency Traffic Service, and its Community Traffic Management Scheme.
While stating that public safety on roads was a collective responsibility of all road users, the Corps implored motorists to be safety conscious and ensure strict compliance to traffic rules and regulations, adding that any contravention of traffic rules during the celebration will lead to such vehicle being impounded and released after the celebration.
