Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has revealed that an integrity test would be carried out on the leftover of an ill-fated building gutted by fire in the Totoro Area of Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun said this during a visit to site of the fire outbreak which occurred recently at Olujimi Emmanuel Electronic and Electrical store.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Abiodun noted that if not for the prompt response of the fire service, the fire would have spread to neighbouring houses, assuring that the test is to ascertain the level of damage and next line of action.
‘‘Officials of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development will be here to inspect the building and check the structure for its actual integrity test, because the most important thing is the safety of the people around here and passer-by. Once this is done, government will take necessary action to safeguard the property and residents’’, Abiodun said.
While thanking men of the State Fire Service for prompt response to control the spread of the fire, he pleaded with residents to steer clear of the area in order to avoid any further casualty until the outcome of the integrity test is determined by the necessary agency of government.
Responding, Mr. Olujimi Emmanuel appreciated the Governor for the gesture and prayed that God would avert a reoccurrence of such sad incidence in the State.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by the Chief of Staff to the State Government, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, Commissioners and the Abeokuta South and North Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen.
