People in the rural areas have been admonished not to throw caution to the wind and comply with protocols against the prevention of coronavirus in their various homes and communities.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape gave the admonition during an interactive session with newsmen in Abeokuta, saying the virus outbreak was not limited to urban areas, while adequate precautions would go a long way in protecting individuals.
Hon. Afuape advised parents and guardians, whose wards were to write the forthcoming West Africa Examination (WAEC) to support government’s efforts in providing the basic preventive materials, such as nose mask, hand sanitiser and other necessary materials for their children when going for the examination.
He said sensitisation programmes on Covid-19 were ongoing in all the Local Government Areas of the State, to enlighten and remind people at the rural areas to continually observe personal hygiene at this period, adding that, ‘’ we have pasted posters in all our rural areas for our people to know how to keep themselves safe from the pandemic”.
The Commissioner called on community leaders to continually remind their people of the importance of proper hygiene and keeping their environment clean in other to keep diseases away from their homes and communities at large.
