Winners of the Season-6 Gtbank-Ogun State Principal’s Cup, Alamuwa Grammar School and Muslim High School, Isolu in the male and female categories respectively have received a cheque of One Million Naira each for their outstanding performance at the last Principal’s Cup competition in Abeokuta.
Presenting the cheques to the winners at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Conference Room, the Coordinating Director, Mr. Iskeel Aboaba said the season 6 of the match marks the end of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Gateway Bank and the State, adding that the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Education Science and Technology would work on signing another MOU with the bank for sustainability of the competition. While urging other multinational companies to emulate the gesture, Aboaba said the competition has been able to achieve its real purpose, as many talented players have been discovered at the Secondary School levels, out of which the most outstanding players were being sponsored in their chosen careers.
Speaking on behalf of the winning schools, the Principal, Pakoto Grammar School, Mr Anthony Olusiji thanked the bank and the State government for the initiatives, adding that the competition should be sustained in order to discover more talents at the grassroots.
He called for the extension of the competition to Primary Schools across the State, assuring that the cash award would be used for sport development in the school.
The Sport Director, All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Mr. Soname Ayodele, appreciated the bank for its immense contribution to the development of sports across the State, saying, the tempo should be sustained.
Pakoto High School, Aiyede Ifo and Ajogbo High School Ota, male and female categories came second with a cash award of N750,000.00 naira each, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Ijebu Ode and Isara Secondary School, Isara, male and female category respectively received the sum of N500,000.00 each for the 3rd position.
While Oshitelu Memorial College Ogere, male and Our Lady of Apostle, Ijebu Ode, female category received a cheque of N250,000.00 each, for the 4th position in the last season of the competition.
