POLIO ERADICATION: OGUN TO BEGIN 1ST ROUND OBR/IPDs

The Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board, in conjunction with development partners in the health sector, is set to begin the first round 2019 Outbreak Response (OBR) and Supplemental Immunization Plus Days (IPDs), in all Local Government across the State, in response to the recent outbreak of Circulating Derived Polio virus in the Southwest states of Nigeria.

According to a release signed by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, the exercise will begin on Saturday, May 18, to Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

The release indicated that the exercise would involve the use of House-to-House vaccinating teams, Government Health Facilities and market places, as well as transit teams to religious houses, for the administration of Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) to children of ages 0-59 months, free of charge.

Mother’s and caregivers are enjoined to make their children and wards available, as well as inform others to avail themselves of the opportunity of the days, in order to kick out polio virus from our communities.
