As part of efforts to boost the immunity of children and sustain the interruption of circulating polio virus in the state, Ogun Primary Health Care Development Board, in collaboration with Development Partners in the health sector is set to begin the First Round, Year 2020 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) exercise.
According to a release signed by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, the exercise, targeted at children age 0 -59 months, was scheduled to hold between Saturday 15th to Tuesday 18th February, 2020.
The statement added that the Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun is expected to flag off the event at Oke-Ilewo Primary Health Centre, Abeokuta on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 10am.
It stated further that the exercise would involve the use of House to House vaccinating teams, transit teams and special teams for administration of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), while other Routine Antigens would be given at fixed posts (Government facilities).
The release also has it that Health workers would visit homes and other designated places such as; Schools, market, religious houses and motor parks, to vaccinate eligible children at no cost.
It enjoined mothers and caregivers to come out en-mass and avail their children and wards the opportunity to get vaccinated during the exercise.
