The General Manager, Ogun State Parks and Garages Development Board (PAGADEB), Alhaji Ayo-Ola Ogunsolu, has said unity among the various transport unions and associations in the State would increase the harmonious relationship among the stakeholders.
Alhaji Ogunsolu made this known while playing host to the leadership of transport unions and the stakeholders at his office in Abeokuta,
The General Manager said the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has done everything possible to ensure peaceful co-existence among the unions through intensified security arrangements and would not allow the security of the State to be disrupted by any group of people.
‘’I urge Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycles Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) and Association of Motorcyles Owners and Riders of Nigeria (AMORAN) as well as other transport unions to work with one another in peace. You should also encourage your members to collect their voters cards in order to participate in 2019 elections,” Ogunsolu said.
Responding, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Akeem Adeosun, promised to ensure peace in parks across the State, adding that all drivers would be encourage to observe traffic rules.
Also, the secretary of AJOWA Truck Owners Association, Alhaji Gbolagade Fatai, said all hands must be on deck to sensitise all road users on the need to obey traffic regulations.
It was unanimously agreed by the leaders of the transport unions and associations to embark on visit to Parks and Garages in the State to educate their members on traffic rules and regulations to avert road crashes, while a 10-man committee with one from each union was inaugurated to take charge of the move.
