OGUN SEEKS PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERSHIP TO ADDRESS INFRASTRUCTURAL DEFICIENCY

Ogun State Government has stressed the need for industries operating in the State especially in Agbara axis to collaborate with the government in fixing infrastructure through Public Private Partnership arrangement.

The State Governor, Senator Ibikunke Amosun stated this while hosting the management team of Unilever Nigeria Plc led by its Managing Director, Mr. Yaw Nsarkoh who paid him a courtesy call at his Oke-Mosan office, Abeokuta.

Senator Amosun noted that the State has been engaging the private sector in carrying out projects, saying government would continue to provide an enabling environment for investors to excel in the State.

The Governor said the State government had contacted the Federal government to handover the Agbara road so that it could be fixed and towed afterwards.

Earlier, the Managing Director, Unilever Nigeria, Mr Yaw Nsarkoh, while reeling out the achievements of the company, disclosed that about 3,000 women were employed to work in the lower cadre of the factory chain, adding that there had been continuous progress especially in the area of employment generation.

The Unilever boss explained that about 80 percent of its goods were manufactured locally out of which 75 percent was done in the state, expressing the company’s willingness to support the State government through Private Partnership in fixing the Agbara road.
