OGUN REHABILITATES STATE INSTITUTIONS’ ACCESS ROADS

In its quest to further enhance infrastructural development, Ogun State Government has commenced immediate rehabilitation of roads in all its tertiary institutions across the State.

 Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, while leading a Government delegation on an assessment tour to all the tertiary institutions across the three Senatorial Districts of the State, revealed that, Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration was committed to positive intervention towards infrastructural development at ensuring the growth of the education sector.

 Akinsanya noted that the palliative work embarked upon to rehabilitate access roads within the institutions would ease transportation hardships being faced by the students, as well as creating a conducive learning environment.

          “Our visit is to see what is needed to be done regarding infrastructural development in each of the institutions and proffer permanent solutions where necessary. We would also do the channelisation of erosion through proper drains to avert future occurrence of flooding, which has affected some schools in the State, especially, the School of Health Technology, Ilese’’.

          “We are here to see what we can do immediately and on the long term, from what we have seen so far, most of the road network in the Institutions are dilapidated. We will start the first phase with grading to make it passable, laying of asphalt and build drainages where necessary”, he said.

          On his part, the Commissioner for Education and former Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, (TASUED) Ijagun, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu said, government was determined to attend to the yearning of students across the State owned Tertiary Institutions, noting that the present administration prioritised education, as the intervention would cut across all educational sectors.

          Speaking on the behalf of students, the President, Student Union, TASUED, Comrade Tobi Adefeso, expressed gratitude on the intervention, assuring that the student unions were in support of the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration and its ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda.
