The newly inaugurated board of Ogun State Water Corporation has stressed the need for the State to conduct its first-ever Water Summit.
Chairman of the board, Otunba Fatai Sowemimo made this known, while addressing staffers of the Corporation,at the headquarters in Abeokuta.
Otunba Sowemimo said the summit when conducted, would bring all stakeholders in the Water sector together, thereby giving room for crucial issues affecting the productivity of services to the public, as well as proffering lasting solutions to such problems.
According to him, “we are going to conduct the first Ogun Water Summit where all stakeholders involved would sit to agree and disagree on crucial issues, as they affect water supply in our State and so we will be able to sanction whoever is found wanting”, he said.
Without such steps, Otuba Sowemimo said, it would be difficult to formulate policies that could be beneficial to the Nation and the State as a whole, as people are always ready to act contrary to rules even when guided.
He said the board is on a rescue mission to the Corporation and promise to take necessary steps towards reviving and repositioning it.
Also speaking, a member of the board, Alhaji Oluwafemi Aderasheed solicited for staffers’ cooperation, adding that it would go a long way to enhance the board’s performance in taking crucial decisions that is capable of transforming the Corporation, expressing confidence in the leadership of the board.
Responding, the General Manager, Ogun State Water Corporation, Mr. Oluseye Maku appreciated the Governor for putting the board in place, describing it as a step in the right direction.
