Ogun State Government has expressed readiness to partner Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on technical and vocational education to ensure economic stability.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa stated this while assessing Peter Akinola Foundation Youth Centre for Industrial Training at Obada, Abeokuta North Local Government, saying Dapo Abiodun led administration was committed to boosting technical and vocational education in the State, to positively impart the youths.
Prof. Odemuyiwa noted that it was imperative to create an enabling environment for technical and vocational, as well as entrepreneurship education, noting that vocational institutions should be commercial-oriented, while appreciating the Centre for complementing Government’s effort at reviving vocational education in the State.
In his welcome address, the Chairman, Management Advisory Committee of the Youth Centre, Engr. Tunde Awolana, commended the State Government for its support, especially, the certification of graduates from the institute.
He explained that the Peter Akinola Foundation Youth Centre for Industrial Training was borne out of passion to prepare today’s youths ahead for a secured future across the country.
In her remark, the Director, Technical and Vocational Education/Training, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, advised the institution on safety measures of its students, during practical sessions in their various workshops, stating that boot, helmet, overall coat and other safety facility outfits must be worn by students before embarking on any practical sessions.
