Ogun State Government has lauded Airtel Telecommunication Company for supporting the State Security Trust Fund, and for empowering the youths through its various job creation platforms.
The Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe gave the commendation at the official opening of the company’s new showroom at Ijeja, Abeokuta, saying the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration was passionate about creating enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
She added that, apart from the customer-focused quality service rendered by the company, engaging the unemployed youth was another step towards improving security.
In his address, Director, Regional Operations, Airtel, Mr. Femi Osilaja said the need to continue to render quality service prompted the company to establish another showroom in Abeokuta, adding that it had laid 300 kilometers of fiber cables within the State to enable over 2.4 million customers enjoy fast 4G internet network.
He stated that the company has created 64,000 direct and indirect jobs for residents of the Gateway State and has been partnering with various communities to execute different beneficial projects and sponsoring festivals.
He assured that the telecoms company would continue to partner government to move the State forward, just as it had adopted renovation and construction of new classrooms of St John’s Primary School, Ijebu-Igbo as part of its support to the development of the State”.
The Olubara of Ibara, Oba (Dr.) Olufemi Omolade, who commissioned the project, prayed for the prosperity of the company and called for sustained support to the community.
