The Ogun State Government has been lauded for its developmental policies, aimed at revamping the State’s education sector.
The commendation was given by the Chief Executive Officer and Facilitator of Concerned Parents and Educators (CPE), Mrs. Yinka Ogunde, while on a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Sidi Osho, in Abeokuta, saying the purpose of the visit was to partner with the Ministry to further improve the standard of education.
Ogunde said she was impressed with the present administration’s policy on education, particularly the state of emergency initially declared in the sector, on assumption of Office of Governor Abiodun, which resulted in huge improvements, being recorded in the sector within a short period.
She revealed that the group was established to monitor and contribute its quota to education in Nigeria, adding that it had been able to influence school proprietors across the country, educate less privileged children free of charge, renovate dilapidated schools, as well as assess the impact of educational policies on learners, among others.
Responding, Prof. Sidi Osho, appreciated the group for acknowledging the present administration’s lofty achievements in the education sector, saying Governor Abiodun was committed to ensuring that education in Ogun returns to its pride of place in the country.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary, Secondary and Technical Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, pointed out that government had given priority to the welfare of both teachers and learners across the State, as well as implementation of impactful policies, for improved service delivery.
