OGUN GOVERNMENT, 84 STUDENTS CELEBRATE WOLE SOYINKA AT 84

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has felicitated with the first African Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka on his 84th birthday, describing him as a distinguished African, who protects and projects cultures globally.

Governor Amosun, eulogised the Nobel Laureate at his residence in Kemta Housing Estate, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, during the 9th Annual Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Project (WSICE) 2018, with the theme, “The Pursuit Of Truth In Our Country (Truth and the National Psyche)’’.

Governor Amosun cheering Prof Soyinka through his deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga, at the annual Essay Competition comprising of 84 students drawn from 84 secondary schools across Nigeria, said the annual event was designed to celebrate his accomplishments as a global citizen and promoter of the good of humanity.

He congratulated the best 3 Winners of the competition, who competed by writing analysis of three of Wole Soyinka’s poems and encouraged the entire participants to see themselves as winners in the competition, urging them to always put in their best to achieve academic excellence.
