Ogun State government has been receiving more support towards cushioning the negative effects of the stay-at-home directive caused by the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic on the citizens.

Receiving another batch of food items from Spectra Industries limited, the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, thanked the Company for its generosity and magnanimity, saying the State government has set a high bar of providing palliatives in form of food items to 500,000 homes, to mitigate the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 lock down on the people of the State.

“We started 100 percent funding and sourcing of food items ourselves since April and it is still ongoing. Our people have been Impressed with the way we were executing our policies in the last few weeks, while many private organisations have also supported us”, she noted.

The Deputy Governor assured the management of the company that the items donated would be judiciously distributed to the targeted citizens, without any bias.

Earlier in her remarks, the Executive Director, Spectra Industries, Mrs. Remi Kuteyi, said the management was impressed by the efforts of Ogun government in curbing the spread of the virus, as well as providing palliatives to its citizens, thus, the need to identify with the State government, noting that government alone cannot fight the pandemic.

She disclosed that the Company has donated 400 bags of Hyfibre sorghum meal and 10 cartons of Cocoa Tea, saying the gesture became imperative because Ogun is a neighbouring State to Lagos, where it operates.
