OGUN ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY STARTS DESLITING EXERCISE IN OTA

The Ogun State Ministry of Environment has began the desliting of waterways and drainage channels in Ota,headquarters of Ado Odo Ota local government area of the state with a call on residents to stop illegal human activities on them especially dumping of refuse for a flood-free environment.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Engr.Rasak Ojetola who made the call while inspecting the exercise in the Oju Ore Round-About and Ahmadiyya Junction of the city said it is by so doing that they will justify government investment in clearing the waterways and drainage-channels of silts which will in the long run allow for free flow of  rain water during the wet season .

Engr Ojetola added that the exercise on completion will also prevent flooding with its high risk of loss of lives and property as well as increase the lifespan of asphaulted roads in the ancient city.
