Workers in Ogun State have been described as diligent for their immense contribution, not only to the development of the State but Nigeria as a whole.

The Chairman, Yewa South Local Government Area, Engr. Obafemi Edun, made this assertion while addressing members of staff of the Council during an award ceremony organized by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the Council’s Secretariat, Ilaro, in recognition of dedication and hard work.

Engr. Edun commended the Union for recognising the contributions of the awardees in developing the area, pledging improved welfare packages for the workers to boost quality service delivery.

“I am happy to be an indigene of Ogun State. It is a State that is endowed with diligent and hardworking Civil Servants who can deliver at any time and in any situation. This Council is blessed with quality and dedicated staff and we shall continue to boost their welfare for improved productivity”, he said.

In his address, the Head of the Local Government Administration, Dr. Adebola Bamgbose urged the awardees to see the award as a call for more work, urging other staffers of the Council to put in more efforts, so they would be recognized in the future.

In his remark, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Odugbemi Ademola, appreciated the State Government for bringing government closer to the people by creating Local Council Development Areas in the State, saying this would bring development to the grassroots.

His words, “I thank His Excellency, the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for his support to the development of local government administration. The recent creation of 37 Local Council Development Areas has further brought governance nearer to the people. Our hopes are however high that this will bring speedy development to the grassroots across the State’’.

One of the Awardees, the best female staff of the year 2018, Mrs. Oluwakemi Olakanmi, thanked the authority of the Council and the organizers, for recognising her efforts, assuring that she would not relent in putting her best for the growth and development of the Council.

In the same vein, the Head, Works Attendance, Mr. Peter Orootan also appreciated NULGE for rewarding his efforts and commitment, saying, “I am very happy for the award of most outstanding male worker given to me. I never expected such, and was not even aware that the authority of the council was watching me all this while. I want to use this opportunity to thank the authority of the council and staff for the honour “.
