The Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration in Ogun State has embarked on massive Information and Communication Technology (ICT) trainings ahead of its plans to digitize governance operations.
The Director of ICT in the Bureau of Information Technology, Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte disclosed this while monitoring the training session organised for over 90 Programme Analysts in the State’s Civil Service, at the Ogun TechHUB centre, along Kobape, Abeokuta.
Mrs. Adekunte noted that the training which centred on the use of Smart Mail Technology for effective administrative operations would go a long way to ease the bottlenecks often experienced with the present filing system in the Civil Service.
The Director revealed that the training was that of “Train the Trainer”, as the Programme Analysts would still be posted to different agencies of government to train other staff, noting that, “this new digital operation, when in full operation would make Civil Servants smarter and in the long run, reduce the time, process and cost usually expended on daily administrative operations”.
While encouraging all to embrace Information Technology and its possibilities, she disclosed that there are several other training packages that are still in the offing for workers and other citizens to benefit.
On his part, one of the trainers, Mr. Ayo Akinbode, affirmed the readiness of the trained Programme Analysts to train others, saying they had shown exceptional interest and practical knowledge during the training.
It would also be recalled that barely a week ago, the Ogun TechHUB, under the management of the Bureau, trained over a thousand children between ages 8 to 16 and their parents on different ICT courses.
