As part of efforts towards improving people’s living standard and contributing to the economic development of their respective council areas, Local Government Authorities have been tasked to constitute economic planning team, to work with the revenue team in developing various comparative advantage strength of every local council.
Chairman, House Committee on Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Hon. Tunde Sanusi, who gave the charge when he led other members on budget appraisal to Yewa North Local Government, Imeko Afon LG, Ketu Local Council Development Area, Iju LCDA and Afon LCDA in Yewa, said that the teams would collaborate to draw an investment plan on any area of agro economy, to boost their internally generated revenue (IGR).
Sanusi, pointed out that Yewa North LG, known for abundant palm oil production should concentrate more on raising oil palm seedlings, to enable farmers have easy access to oil palm cultivation, noting that it would increase both cash and food crop in the community.
He said developing the agro economic strength of any LG/LCDAs would not prevent them from discharging their statutory responsibilities of providing basic social facilities at the grassroots level, saying this was in tandem with the transformation agenda of the present administration.
In their remarks, Chairman, Yewa North LG, Hon. Rasaq Adeagbo and his counterpart from Imeko Afon LG, Comrade Tosin Adeluyi, submitted that the creation of all the Local Council Development Areas from the existing Local Government Councils, had enabled the spread of socio-economic developments to all parts of the State, stressing its improvements in the area of agriculture, especially at the local level.
On the other hand, Ketu LCDA Chairman, Hon. Moses Adegbite, Iju LCDA, Hon. Ramon Alebiosu and Afon LCDA, represented by the Acting Chairman, Hon. Abdul Lateef Akinwunmi, lauded the efforts and support of the State Government towards spreading the dividend of democracy to people across the State.
