In order to protect the health of the people, the Ministry of Agriculture has advised the general public to patronise only authorised livestock markets.

A release signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry stated that veterinary personnel were on ground to check animals’ status and certify them fit for consumption, in such authorized markets.

It indicated that special enforcement team would go round to clamp down on all illegal livestock markets across the State and deal with perpetrators, according to the law of the land.

According to the release, operators of such illegal markets were advised to immediately move to authorized livestock markets in the State, adding that prospective buyers should call: 0902 038 8362, 0803 389 2861 or 0703 108 9077, for further information.
