Ogun State Government in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) says it has significantly tackled gender inequality and guarantees commodity security to health facilities, supported to provide family planning services across the State.
The State revealed it had achieved even distribution of family planning commodities to Primary Health facilities, which had greatly reduced malnutrition, maternal and child mortality ratio.
Speaking at the end of the year Coordination programme and Data Review meeting, in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the State, the State Project Coordinator, UNFPA, Mr. Banjo Olukayode commended the agencies for their cooperation, which he said had translated to milestone achievements for the State.
Olukayode noted that the government with the support of UNFPA have procured and distributed family planning consumables to service delivery points, which has curbed the collection of stipends from clients as service charge.
He added that the state with the support of UNFPA has contributed to the creation of a gender compendium for the State as well as initiated 16-day activism on the elimination of violence against women, which has ensured effective monitoring of the distribution of sex offenders register in all police divisions, to ensure justice is served among other things.
