The Director-General, Ogun State Public Service Transformation Office (PSTO), Mr. Jola Oyeneye has reiterated the State government’s commitment to reforming the Public Service for quality service delivery to the people of the State.
Oyeneye gave this assurance during a sensitization visit to the Ministry of Environment, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Abeokuta.
He recalled that the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun created the PSTO on March 26, 2018, to manage reforms for efficient and effective service delivery in the public service, adding that the public service being the engine room for implementing government policies, must be re-equipped regularly, to meet up with new realities.
“The Civil Service is the engine room for government and it should be positioned well to be able to achieve the desired result. The PSTO is planning to work with MDAs on reforms that will make their officials adapt to change and foster productivity and quality service delivery’’, he noted.
In his presentation titled “The Growth Mindset”, the DG disclosed that officers in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), must be open to changes, as the way of doing government business has begun to evolve, calling on them to develop a growing mindset as against the fixed mindset.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Kunle Osota, stressed the need for paradigm shift in the Service, which he said would lead to efficiency in the discharge of duties, appreciating Governor Amosun for creating the PSTO to continually drive reforms and re-engineer service delivery processes in the State Public Service.
One of the participants, Mr. Buri Jokosenumi, commended the DG for the sensitisation, describing it as an educative one that would enhance productivity in the service.
