Ogun State Government has reassured well-meaning individuals and corporate organisations, who have donated to the cause of the COVID -19 pandemic ravaging the world, of fair and judicious distribution of relief materials to the poor and vulnerable in the State.
Secretary to the State Government, Mr.Tokunbo Talabi, who stated this while receiving food items donated by the Nigeria Baptist Convention (NBC), at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, said government was delighted to receive the relief materials, meant to alleviate the suffering of the poor masses in the state.
“The Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration in the State uses this period of sacrificial giving to those in dire need, particularly, at this period the world is experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, to appreciate all our brothers, business partners and others for their humane show of love in cash and kind to the needy, poor and vulnerable in our dear state.
“We assure our donors that the government in his determination to curtail the spread amongst the people of the state would ensure that the food items are fairly and judiciously distributed to those that are in real need of it”, he stated.
Mr. Talabi, who requested for more spiritual support from the National Baptist Conference and other faith-based organisations, promised that the present government would not take their contributions for granted in all spheres.
Presenting the palliative items to the State Government, Director of Social Ministries, NBC, Revd. Dr. Titi Eniola, noted that the faith-based organisation decided to identify and support the State government in its quest to contain the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus among the people of the State, saying that the food items was donated to ease the pain and sufferings of the poor and needy during the lockdown period.
“Nigeria Baptist Convention under the able leadership of Revd. Supo Ayokunle, who also doubles as the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), wishes to show our token of love to the State Government and the good people of our dear state by donating 25 bags of 50kg Rice, 40 bags of 10kg Semovita, Litres of Groundnut Oil, 10 bags of beans and 100 tuber of yam”, she stated.
