The Ogun State Government has presented a cheque of N1m to the parents of late Master Daniel Odusina of Ojumo Community Senior Secondary School, Ihunbo, who lost his life in a fracas which occurred between Officers of the Nigeria Custom Services and Smugglers, at Ihunbo in Ipokia Local Government Area of the State, while returning from school.
Speaking during the visit on behalf of the State government, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, said it was a pathetic situation, noting that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, placed high premium on the wellbeing of students in the State, particularly their education.
She said the visit was the directive of the Governor, praying that God would give the family the fortitude and strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Responding, the deceased’s father, Mr. Jacobs Babalade, appreciated the Governor for the gesture, saying the family would never forget the kindness.
The Permanent Secretary, who also visited the school to condole with them, charged the school authority to justify government’s investment in the education sector, advising the Senior Secondary School (SSS3) students to prepare adequately for the forthcoming West African Examination.
