OGSG, FG EXTEND PALLIATIVES TO FLOOD VICTIM

Ogun State Government in collaboration with the Federal Government have extended distribution of palliatives to victims of flood disaster in Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South Local Government Areas, to cushion the loss of properties as a result of the disaster.

Speaking during the event at the Trade Fair Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Femi Ogunbanwo said the government at all levels were concerned about the plight of the people.

Ogunbanwo stressed that the present administration would not relent in giving succor to the needy, as a way of providing dividends of democracy to the people, urging beneficiaries to make judicious use of the palliatives.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya said both Federal and State Governments have strong synergy, which made the distribution arrangement a reality, noting that the palliatives were not for sale and should be utilised to ease their plight.

         In his presentation, the South West Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Zlaku Lugard said the palliatives were to support the victims stressing that the distribution of palliatives was not compensation.

He added that the Federal and State government are concerned about the plight of the people stressing that the beneficiaries should make judicious use of the palliatives.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Messers Fatunbi Ismail and Samuel Olusegun lauded the Federal government for providing more palliatives noting that it would further ease their plight.
