Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will on Sunday, September 27, 2020 join the rest of the world to celebrate the 43rd edition of World Tourism Day.
A statement by the Commissioner in the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo indicated that the 2020 edition with the theme, “Tourism and Rural Development” will hold virtual on Zoom by 11 a. m. in order to adhere to COVID- 19 protocols.
The statement indicated that the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), set aside the day to celebrate tourism annually, with the aim of creating awareness on the significant roles tourism plays in local and international communities, adding that this year’s theme would highlight the economic and social roles of tourism in rural development.
It further stated that the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun would be the Guest of Honour, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, as the Special guest and keynote speaker.
