The present administration in Ogun State has restated its resolve to consistently support training programmes for teachers, so as to upgrade the standard of education.
The Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Mojisola Dosunmu said this at a day Workshop organised by the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), Ogun State Branch, with the theme; “Using Pedagogy Approach to Reshaping Curriculum for Teaching and Learning Agricultural Science in Schools”, held at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
Mrs. Dosunmu said the State government recently organised an educational summit, where stakeholders in the sector were engaged on brain storming sessions, to chat the way forward in surmounting various educational challenges in the State.
While advising teachers to pursue additional qualifications to enable them excel in their teaching career, the Permanent Secretary charged them to embrace government programmes and policies, as well as put to use knowledge acquired at seminars for the development of education.
In his remark, the State Chairman of STAN, Dr. Abayomi Onanuga advised teachers to effectively utilize the agricultural knowledge acquired by projecting the efficiency of the subject to their students.
Speaking, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, (NUT), Comrade Titilope Adebanjo, noted that it was imperative for teachers to inculcate agricultural education value on their students, in order to revolutionalise food insufficiency and boost the economy of the country.
