The Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA) has erected speed breakers along Akarigbo road in Sagamu Local Government Area, to curtail unwarranted vehicular accidents that usually occur along the corridor, due to over speeding on the part of motorist.
Speaking at the construction site, the General Manager, OGPWA, Architect Gbenga Akintola said the construction was done in response to the yearnings of residents of the area, saying no human live should be sacrificed on the altar of recklessness on the road, as all government security and traffic outfits intensify safety and advocacy campaign to save lives.
Reacting, a member of the State House of Assembly, representing Sagamu Constituency 1, and the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Abdul-Bashir Oladunjoye, appreciated the Governor for establishing OGPWA, expressing delight at its response in ensuring that lives were saved from needless accident.
He appealed to motorists to comply with traffic rules and regulations, not only along that corridor, but all other places within the State and beyond, saying efforts would continue to be intensified on safety campaign.
A resident of the area, Adewole Okuwoga said that the timely intervention of the government through the public works agency would save lives and reduce the risk of pedestrians, especially school children from being hit by reckless drivers.
Also commenting, Kunle Osho, a motorist, appealed to the Governor to expedite action on other areas of the town, particularly now that the rain was still light.
