The wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun has expressed appreciation to the people of the State for their support, perseverance and creating an enabling environment for her husband in his mission to rebuild the State.
Speaking during a special thanksgiving service, commemorating her 53rd birthday, held at the Government House Chapel, Oke-Igbein Abeokuta, Mrs. Amosun, who is the Iya Ijo of the Chapel, noted that the people’s endurance and love for the Governor and her family will continue to yield positive result even long after the expiration of the present administration.
She thanked God for the opportunity to see another year and members of the Church for their consistency in observing her birthday yearly, praying that the Almighty God would bless and multiply the church abundantly.
“I thank God for the grace to see another year. Thank you for joining me to thank God today and for your support to my husband as he steers the ship of this state. I am grateful to this congregation for the honour bestowed on me, especially in observing my birthday since the inception of this government. Whether am available or not, you have continued to share in my joy and for this am grateful, she submitted”.
In his message titled: “The Merciful and Gracious God”, the officiating Minister, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Gbogboade, noted that the purpose of creation was for worship and service to God, saying this could be expressed through a heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to God for His mercy.
His words, “I want to charge every one of us here not to forget the grace and mercy of God upon our lives, as we rejoice and appreciate God in the life of Mrs. Amosun and also to encourage the celebrant to continue to make herself available as an instrument for God’s service and the service to humanity.”
Rt. Rev. Gbogboade said, “God is a God of purpose and he preserves, heals, blesses, protects, and forgives our sins for a purpose. We all have reasons to give thanks to God for keeping and watching over us, just like we are doing today.”
The Cleric encouraged the Wife of the Governor not to forget the grace and mercy of God upon her life and to always give thanks to God in her closet for His favour, forgiveness and blessings, urging the congregation to also cultivate the habit of thanking and praising God for all His benefits upon their lives.
He pointed out that the thanksgiving service organised in honour of the Wife of the Governor was a well-deserved one, considering the lives of people she had impacted positively, adding that Mrs. Amosun was a woman of virtue, whose exemplary life of service to God and humanity should be emulated by all.
The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosumola Dipeolu took the Bible reading on behalf of the Wife of the Governor from the book of Psalms 103, verses one to 13; “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all His benefits’’.
Tributes and testimonies were shared and special prayers offered for Ogun State and Nigeria, as well as the celebrant and her family, for God’s protection, grace to see many more years on earth and strength to continue in the service of God and humanity.
Other dignitaries and well-wishers who joined the celebrant in cutting the birthday cake were the Head of Service, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, Permanent Secretaries, Obas, the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s elder brother, Alhaji Abidoye Amosun, members of the Spouses of Ogun State Government Functionaries (SOSGFA), Clerics and Government Officials.
