The Ogun State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe has assured that more investors will start business in the State in the coming months, as Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration intensify efforts at attracting local and foreign investors.
Mrs. Longe gave the assurance when she appeared before the State House of Assembly Committee on Industry, Trade and Investment, led by Honourable Kemi Oduwole, to give account of the Ministry’s performance in the first half of 2020, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
She said the current administration had established the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency (OGUNINVEST), the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Office, commenced the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) and inaugurated the Ogun State Business Executive Council (OGBEC), adding that the board of OgunInvest would be inaugurated soon.
The Commissioner said the Ministry has made changes in the road haulage collection process, for improved effectiveness, while leakages have been blocked, stressing that, “the Ministry is currently recording progress in its fight against illegal mining in the State, as offenders were being arrested and prosecuted”.
On internally generated revenue, she noted that the Ministry was able to rake in only
N585,872,600 in the first half of the year, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, assuring that the Ministry would establish Zonal Offices in all Local Government Areas of the State for enhanced performance.
The Committee Chairman, Honourable Kemi Oduwole, commended the efforts of the Ministry, expressing confidence in the State’s ability, to use the “pull factor” to make Ogun State investors’ preferred choice of destination.
He assured that the State House of Assembly would support the Ogun State Agricultural & Multipurpose Credit Agency (OSAMCA) and the Market Board to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and boost the State economy.
