MINE WORKERS’ UNION TASKED ON IMPROVED IGR

Members of the Nigerian Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), Ogun State Council, have been charged to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration by contributing to the improvement of the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe gave this charge when members of the Union paid her courtesy visit in Abeokuta, stating that the body needed to contribute more actively and exceed targets in the collection of haulage revenue on behalf of government at quarry dominated toll points.

She stressed that the present administration was concerned about achieving improved performance in the interest of the State, as target had been set for the year, assuring that government would continue to create enabling environment for businesses to thrive and ensure security of lives and property.

Mrs. Longe revealed that the State government was working on harmonization of tax collection in order to simplify and ease the process of tax payment and collection.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola underscored the importance of the ministry to the economy of the State, assuring the group of his Ministry’s support as it works on improving the State revenue through haulage collection.

Speaking on behalf of the Union, the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Tunde Soneye, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration for recognizing the Union, as well as giving them the mandate to collect haulage revenue on behalf of government, pledging continuous harmonious working relationship with the Ministry in boosting the State’s IGR.
