Information Officers have been charged to propagate the gospel of Family Planning (FP), in order to improve the health and economy of the family and society.
The State Programme Coordinator, The Challenge Initiative (TCI), Mrs. Busola Oyeyemi, gave the charge at a media advocacy visit to sensitize Information Officers on Family Planning and its attendant benefits to the society, at the Press Centre, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan.
Mrs. Oyeyemi noted that information managers were key in getting accurate information and messages on FP to the populace, urging them to use their various platforms, knowledge and beats in demystifying myths and misconceptions surrounding it.
Also speaking, a member of the team, Mrs. Jumoke Adekogba, added that FP was not only beneficial to women of child bearing age alone but the whole family and society at large, saying it helped in reducing maternal and child mortality, lower health care costs, as well as, help couples make informed decision on family life.
She noted that the present administration, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, in collaboration with TCI, had trained health workers to provide services on various FP methods available which included; Injectable, Intra-Uterine Device (IUD) and Insertions, in all government primary and secondary health facilities across the State.
