The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Value Chain Development Programme has commended Ogun State government for its commitment to agricultural development through the prompt payment of its counterpart funds and other laudable policies and programmes.
IFAD Value Chain Mission Consultant, Prof. Lombin Ganyir, gave the commendation when he led a team to the State on the mid-term inspection of activities of the programme.
‘’The prompt payment of IFAD counterpart fund by the State government is not only commendable, it shows the value and commitment of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun led-administration accorded agriculture and its value chain.
“We at IFAD Value Chain Development Programme are therefore not surprised with the giant steps Ogun State is making in agriculture, especially in the Rice and Cassava value chain, the areas we have been partnering with the state since year 2014”.
Prof Ganyir however called on other States participating in the programme to take a cue from Ogun State, by paying up their counterpart fund so that they could reap its full benefits
Earlier, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Adepeju Adebajo, represented by the Director of Livestock Services, Alhaji Olatunbosun Mosuro, acknowledged the impact of the programme at the ongoing agric revolution in the State, adding that, with the current development, Ogun State would soon become the food basket of the nation.
