Towards ensuring automation of operational activities, members of staff in the Governor’s Office have commenced computer training to sharpen their skills and promote a self-driven system, for optimal productivity.
Speaking at the training held at the Governor’s Office Press Centre, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu said the training was apt, as the world has embraced digitisation, due to the challenges associated with the analog way of doing things.
The Chief of Staff maintained that the present administration had introduced various ICT initiatives since inception, such as Ogun Job portal, Ogun TechHub, ICT training for teachers among others, saying, “As an IT expert, I always strive to make sure I apply ICT to increase performance in any place I found myself”.
He urged participants to make good use of the opportunity provided by the training to reflect on their daily routines of information documentation and file sorting, reiterating that ‘’without ICT, one cannot function effectively globally’’.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Governor, Mr. Abayomi Bajela said, the computer training was long overdue, noting that the exercise would equip the staff to meet up with the global best practices.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Director, Administration and Supplies, Office of the Governor, Mr. Olumuyiwa Idowu, described the training as a sharpening process and urged participants to justify government’s gesture, by transferring the knowledge gained into their daily schedules.
Responding on behalf of participants, the Chief Confidential Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Mojisola Akinsinde, thanked Government for organising the training, assuring that they would rededicate themselves to duty to justify government’s expenditure on the training.
