GOVT ASSURES OF IMPROVED INFRASTRUCTURE IN LGAs

Ogun State Government has said it would not relent in its efforts at improving the state of infrastructure in its council areas irrespective of the dwindling economy being experienced in the country presently.

The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said this while commissioning projects at Ijebu – East Local Government Area, noting that some of the activities being carried out in the State were done within the available resources, as rural roads rehabilitation would not be left out in his dispensation.

Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, said ongoing projects in the 20 Local Government Areas of the State are expected roles of the third tier of government, adding that all the residents would feel the impact of the present administration.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Hon. Callistus Falujo, appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for fulfilling his promise of making Local Government responsible to its people.  He said, “the Governor have been doing great jobs across the Local Councils, which include; renovation and construction of schools, healthcare centres as well as provision of funds for the implementation of other infrastructures”.

Falujo noted that the Transition Committee was able to construct 20 open stalls in Owode market at Ogbere, renovation of a block of two classrooms and four toilets for pupils and teachers’ use in Owu Primary School, Owu Ijebu and renovation of Healthcare Centre at Aberu in Area J4.

Also speaking, the Baale of Aberu in Area J4, Chief Felix Onafuwa appreciated the gesture of the Governor for keeping his promises, saying the project commissioned was the first of its kind in 16 years in the area. He noted that the project has brought a great relief to his people and neighboring communities while seeking for government intervention in rehabilitating major road that leads to the area.

On her part, the Otun Iyalode of Owu Ijebu, Chief Mrs. Oluranti Oduwole, said the school renovated would create conducive environment for both teachers and students, thanking the Governor and members of transition committee for the new development.
