Ogun State Government is leaving no stone unturned as it prepares to curb flooding ahead of the rainy season just as he advised residents within flood prone areas in Abeokuta, Isheri, Warewa and others to  relocate to safer places.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Olatunji Odunlami gave this advice during a visit to flood prone areas in Abeokuta, Ogun State, saying it was important for them to take proactive measures, so that the flood does not catch them unaware.

While assuring of Government’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, Odunlami said necessary measures would be taken ahead of the season towards achieving zero tolerance on flooding, appealing to people living in the areas to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels, which could wreck havoc due to blockages.

His words, “we appeal to you all to imbibe better sanitation and environmental culture so that we can live a normal life without being threatened by flood or any other natural calamity. Please let’s do the needful to ensure it doesn’t create havoc when rain comes”.

Appreciating the State Government for the proactive steps taken to inspect the areas before commencement of rain, Baaroyin of Egbaland, Chief Lai Labode, implored government to construct canal to channelise the water coming from different areas, so as to avoid flood disaster in the State.
