Town Planners in Ogun State Civil Service have been charged to ensure that proper physical planning development was carried out in order to attract more investors.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban and Physical Planning, TPL Olatunji Odunlami, gave this charge during a meeting with Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the 23 Zonal offices in the state, held at the Ministry’s conference room in Abeokuta.
He noted that Governor Dapo Abiodun was interested in better structure planning that would move the State to the next level in the area of physical and urban planning.
While urging the CEOs to be proactive in their duties and services, TPL Odunlami advised them to see planning as a valuable instrument of development to encourage investors, saying a disorganised planning would discourage them from coming to invest in the State.
“As town planners, you must be more proactive and alive to your responsibilities, think like land economist and see beyond your physical planning experience by adding value to the state”, he advised.
He further asked town planners to join hands with government to achieve ease of doing business in Ogun state by reducing the numbers of days for applicants to obtain building approvals.
Responding, Director, Development Control Department, TPL Kolawole Ogun appreciated the Special Adviser, promising that the officers would do the needful to move the State forward, imploring CEOs to be honest in their dealings and always report any planning issues encountered in their zones to the heads of the department.
