The Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdul-Asisi Adelakun, Akinola (11), has enjoined residents of Ayetoro to be conscious of Covid-19 and observe all preventive measures, as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
The Monarch, who addressed the press in his palace at Ayetoro through the Chairman of Baales, Baale of Ilogun, Ayetoro, Chief Samson Oguntade, said “the festive period is usually celebrated in large gatherings of family members and loved ones, but we should be careful during this year’s celebration”.
He warned the people to obey Covid-19 guidelines, as stipulated by Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC), particularly, use of nose mask, maintenance of social distance and gathering of not more than 20 people.
The Alaye also advised residents to emulate prophet Ibrahim, who served God through obedience and sacrifice, “as he accept to sacrifice his only son, which now turned out to celebration”.
Also speaking, the Jagumolu of Ayetoro, Chief Murithod Adedeji enjoined residents to be security conscious, during and after the festive period, to guide against untoward attitudes of deviants, warning motorcycle riders and commercial vehicle drivers against recklessness, drinking alcohol while driving and disregard to traffic rules.
Adedeji seized the occasion to appeal to government to intervene on road rehabilitation in Ayetoro and its environs.
