Nigerians have been urged to be hopeful and prayerful, as the current travails in the country would soon be a thing of the past.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave this assurance during the grand finale of the 59th Independence Day celebration held at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, saying, through collective efforts and patriotism of the citizens, Nigeria is bound to overcome the socio-economic and security challenges confronting it.
Prince Abiodun, while paying glowing tributes to the nationalists for their untiring efforts that culminated into the independence and unity of Nigeria, noted that, “For our country to overcome her challenges, Nigerians must be patriotic, live in love, put behind ethnic differences and realise that we are Nigerians before any affiliations’’.
Governor Abiodun advised those seeking greener pastures in other countries to stay back to develop the nation, adding that, it was incumbent upon leaders and followers to join hands in nation building.
He said as partners in progress, his administration would tap into the vast natural and human resources that abound in the State to maximize benefits and make life more comfortable for the people.
“No Government has the monopoly of resources to engender a wholesome and sustainable development. There is need for collaboration with other stakeholders, especially the Private Sector to build our State”, the Governor added.
While assuring the people of better days ahead, the Governor promised that his government would create enabling environment for individuals to achieve their aspirations, as everyone would be given a level playing ground, irrespective of their political, ethnic, religious or social affiliation, for better livelihood.
