The immediate past General Manager, Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), Late Diji Akinhanmi has been described as a thorough-bred journalist, whose legacy will be remembered for years to come in the pen profession.
The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo who said this at the maiden memorial lecture, held in honour of Diji Akinhanmi, at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, described the late GM as one who served diligently.
Represented by Ogbeni Kolawole Ishola, Rt. Hon. Oluomo, said the late broadcaster rose through the ladder from the level of a News Assistant, adding that his input at OGTV as Director, News and Current Affairs would ever remain indelible, saying this culminated to his appointment as the General Manager of OGBC, before his demise in January, 2020.
“The memorial lecture should be sustained as this should not be a one-time event. Late Akinhanmi leave an indelible mark in journalism and such efforts should be remembered”, he added.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile said the deceased, during his lifetime made a great impact in the profession, hence the event by the OGBC family.
“I have known the late journalist for a long time and as the immediate past National President, Nigerian Union of journalists (NUJ), I recall we had discussed journalism in different dimensions, and the importance of getting people trained for the profession”, he said.
Welcoming guests earlier, Chairman Board of Directors of the radio station, Alhaji Yahya Olodeoku mentioned that the memorial lecture is being organised to honour the late journalist, adding that his impact in the pen profession would not go unremembered.
