As part of efforts to curtail the spread of Covid-19, Sagamu Local Government Council has embarked on sensitisation exercise to health centers and market places in the area, to demonstrate how to maintain personal hygiene.
Speaking during the exercise at Sabo Health Center, Awolowo and Sabo markets, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council, Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Baruwa, urged market men and women to take necessary precautions, maintain personal hygiene by imbibing hand washing culture, avoid crowded places and heed government’s directives, in order to contain the virus.
“As government at the grassroots, we feel it was important to sensitise our people to avoid the spread of virus by taking care of ourselves and families”, he said.
Speaking earlier at the Sabo Health Center, the Director, Primary Health Care Department, Dr. Oyedele Mayomi and Health Educator, Alh. Bello Mutalib, explained that sneezing, dry cough, difficulty in breathing were some of the symptoms of the virus, advising people to visit the health centers immediately they notice such, to avoid the spread of the virus.
While speaking on the precautions, the Disease Surveillance Officer, Alhaja Mustapha Olasunkanmi, enjoined everyone to cultivate the habit of hand washing with soap and running water at intervals or use sanitiser where there is no water, as well as cough and sneeze into the elbow and dispose used tissue paper immediately.
In their separate remarks, Mrs. Abosede Odunuga and Mrs. Sulaiman Funmilayo, appreciated the Local Government for the sensitisation, urging market men and women to heed government’s directives.
