COMMUNITIES URGED TO EMBRACE VIGILANTE SERVICES

Abeokuta North East Local Council Development Area has advised communities in the Council to engage the services of Vigilante Service Organisation (V.S.O) and other security agencies for protection of lives and property.
Head of Department, Community and Social Development, Mrs. A. Akinsanya, who made this known in a report, said it was important for members of the communities to adopt legal means of securing themselves against all forms of criminalities, in order to ensure peace and tranquillity in the area.
The report also stated that boundaries dispute between Ore- Ofe and Anuoluwapo CDAs was resolved by the representatives of Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning and officials from the LCDA, while a peace meeting was held between executive members of Lafenwa and Abule- Otun Community Development Association and Area Community Development Committee, with officials of the Council in attendance.
It added that youths in Olomore Area Community Development Council were trained on various vocations, such as; Hair Dressing, Decoration, Fashion and Design among others by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), to make them self-reliant.
Meanwhile, Abeokuta North Local Government Area, has been awarded second best position by All Community Awareness on Clean Environment Initiative (ACAOCEI), a Non-Governmental Organisation, for being among the cleanest Local Government in Ogun State.
According to a report of the Council signed by the Director, Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Mrs. T. Akinjobi and made available to journalists, the award was as a result of its strict compliance to environmental and sanitation laws and the desire of residents to keep their environment clean.
