The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun says the action of President Muhammadu Buhari, declaring June 12 as Nigeria’s Democracy Day and conferment of post humours award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), on Chief Moshood Olawale Abiola, was an indication that democracy is entrenched in the nation.

Governor Amosun who stated this in Abeokuta, while speaking with newsmen, shortly after the State’s Executive Council meeting, said the action of the president would unite Nigerians and engender progress in the country.

Amosun added that agitations for June 12 would not fizzle out until an average Nigerian was confidence that his or her vote would count, adding that the President has demonstrated to be a democratic leader, who wants justice for all.

The Governor noted that the action has corrected the wrong that had lingered on for the past 25 years, commending the president for apologising on behalf of the Federal government to Nigerians, for the injustice done to them and the acclaimed winner of June 12 presidential election.
