In pursuance of the successful implementation of the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme, Ogun State Government has revealed that the verification exercise organised for applicants was free of charge.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Dr. Adetunji Oredipe, disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists, after the distribution of electronic gadgets and other materials for the verification exercise to agric extension officers in all 20 Local Government Areas across the State.
Oredipe said resources are available to equip the frontline officers, who would be interacting directly with the farmers, explaining that the procured gadgets, such as; complete laptops, phones with simcards, modems and banners were in demonstration of the present administration’s determination to ensure a smooth and successful implementation of the scheme.
“We have to celebrate the leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun for this programme and for also making resources available to empower the youth and also the frontline workers, who will verify intending and existing farmers for the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme.
‘’This segment of the assignment is to actually undertake the verification of those who have applied, to be sure we are dealing with farmers. We have equipment that will ease the verification exercise”, Oredipe noted.
He stated further that four verification points would be set up in different areas in each local government to bring the verification centre closer to the people, saying Government would leave no stone unturned for the successful implementation of the programme.
In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye charged the Officers to reciprocate the good gesture of the State Government by working assiduously to ensure smooth sailing of the programme, urging them to be patient and tolerant with all applicants that would be approaching them for verification.
